Position Overview

The Principal Software Engineer will be a key member of the digital transformation team at Zones. We are looking for individuals who want to grow professionally and impact the business transformation of a $2 billion USD company.

What you will do as a Principal Software Engineer

You are a hands-on Principal Software Engineer with a deep background in Computer Science and distributed systems. You know how to architect, develop, manage, and scale enterprise-ready SaaS platforms in private data centres, on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. You possess knowledge of agile processes and principles. You also have a keen interest in e-commerce processes and double-sided marketplaces. You possess intellectual curiosity, out-of-the-box thinking, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work/influence multiple stakeholder groups.

  • You will guide the technical design and implementation strategy for the Zones Digital platform.
  • Guide designs involving interdisciplinary teams closely cooperating with senior engineering management, program management, and/or product line management.
  • Serve as an expert in an assigned technical area from a software and system level view.
  • Document and develop component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
  • May mentor and coach the work of others as assigned.

What You will bring to the team

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a principal software engineer supporting enterprise software.
  • 5+ years of experience in supporting e-commerce or payment systems.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, and or relevant experience.
  • Expert-level experience developing microservices with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or Google.
  • Experience in design-build/deployment systems for projects.
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python, JavaScript/Typescript.
